Description: Three's a charm! BOP GOES THE WEASEL - JAZZ FOR KIDS is invited back again to play two shows at The National Theatre, Helen Hayes Gallery. For early birds: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and the second show: 11 a.m. - 12 noon. Come sing along, clap to the rhythm, snap your fingers, and get up and dance! We can make up songs just about anything: Snowflakes, or Jumping in the Puddle, or Time to Bake Some Cookies! We go into Gershwin’s Summertime, from Old MacDonald to Mysterious Thelonious Monk’s Pannonica, and we’ll have you all Swinging On A Star at the end of our fun and high-energy program. Christiana Drapkin sings and leads the activities. Vegan Dave Mosick plays a mean guitar. Big Bad Bob Shann thumps the bass. And Cool Hand John Cusick plays the drums. With a basic 12-bar Blues, Jazz Standards, familiar children’s songs and our own compositions, we make it easy for children to catch melody and rhythm, low notes, high notes, volume and silence, tension and release, feeling up and down and up again. Participate in call-and-response, do the scat, and sing the Happy Blues with us. FREE!

Description: We're thrilled to be invited back again to play the kickoff-session of the Westminster Flower & Jazz Festival. Last year it was pouring, so we performed indoors in their beautiful theater. "MUSIC, SHE WROTE" is our theme, celebrating the often unsung heroines of the music industry: female composers and lyricists like Dorothy Fields, Ann Ronnell, Irene Higginbotham, Abbey Lincoln, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Comden... and their tunes that you'll love but never knew who wrote them.
