Description: Another Honor Flight Double-Header: We welcome a group of veterans coming in from Cincinnati, OH, and rom Kansas, MO. Just as they're stepping off the gangway, our BLUE JAZZ group plays Swing and Jazz Standards, sexy Samba and Bossa Nova, upbeat Blues, and some romantic Ballads. Christiana sings, Howard Leikin is on guitar, Herb Nachmann on bass, and Halley Shoenberg on sax. It's always such a joy and such an honor to bring our musical "Thank You" to these veterans - from WWII to the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is especially moving, in addition to the many volunteers, to see today's young soldiers come by on their day off, and show their respects to their colleagues who preceded them, and to shake their hand. -- It's such a moving and heartfelt occasion. But today, we'll play up a storm, invite our friends to jam. I know that the fabulous Anita Thomas will join us on clarinet & sax. And we'll give Maya a solo on the squeaky-toy. We bring our whole quintet for a joyful romp through the Jazz Standards and Great American Song Book, as it was improvised upon by some of our greatest inspirations: Ella, of course, but also Anita O'Day, Annie Ross, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Louis Armstrong, John Hendricks, Charlie Parker, Lester Young... all masters of improvisation.
