Location: Beans in the Belfry, 122 W. Potomac Street, Brunswick, MD .
Description: One more month of winter. Let's hurry things along with some spring-fever tunes. My mother would take me on nature walks and say, "Jetzt gehen wir den Fruehling suchen!" and we'd always find some early harbingers of springtime. What joy! A little sprout, yellowish-green, bright as neon, hiding under a log. The first calls of a chickadee in the distance. You could spot it because there were no leaves on the trees yet. We'd imitate his bird call and sing back. Come to think of it, that's how I started to scat! Join us in this cozy eatery. Call ahead to make reservations for eight and bring your friends. Relax with your laptop, read the newspaper, and sip hot chocolate. Or champaign it up with a toast!

Come on, give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and feel good that you're actually filling potholes, staffing hospitals, honoring the teachers with a decent salary. Our social fabric needs mending, and so do our hearts. We'll provide for both with some energizing Blues, Jazz Standards, and Great American Song Book. No cover, but leave a big tip for the waitstaff, and for us musicians. Thank you.

We can make up songs just about anything: Snowflakes, or Jumping in the Puddle, or Time to Bake Some Cookies! We go into Gershwin’s Summertime, from Old MacDonald to Mysterious Thelonious Monk’s Pannonica, and we’ll have you all Swinging On A Star at the end of our fun and high-energy program. Christiana Drapkin sings and leads the activities. Vegan Dave Mosick plays a mean guitar. Big Bad Bob Shann thumps the bass. And Cool Hand John Cusick plays the drums. With a basic 12-bar Blues, Jazz Standards, familiar children’s songs and our own compositions, we make it easy for children to catch melody and rhythm, low notes, high notes, volume and silence, tension and release, feeling up and down and up again.
